Reignite Your Passion for What Really Matters in 2025
As I write this, it’s Blue Monday—the third Monday in January. You may have heard this term before. It was coined by a travel company to describe the day each year when happiness levels supposedly fall to their lowest point. Whether or not this claim holds true, one thing is certain: for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, this time of year is undeniably cold, dark, and can feel a bit heavy.
Are you feeling a little out of sorts? Perhaps the year hasn’t started the way you imagined, or maybe it just feels like more of the same. If that resonates with you, it’s time to reignite your passion for what truly matters.
Aligning with your values
Last spring, I found myself in a similar place. Despite working hard toward my Big Gorgeous Goals, I felt stuck—like I was sliding backward rather than making meaningful progress. I was pouring energy into ideas I believed in, but I couldn’t seem to gain traction. This lack of momentum brought with it a wave of uncertainty: Was I doing the right work? Were my goals still aligned with what I truly cared about?
Uncertainty is a tricky thing. It can make us question not only our goals but also our purpose. In those moments, it’s tempting to abandon the path we’re on and start fresh with something new. But instead of making drastic changes, I decided to give myself time—time to reflect, reassess, and reconnect with the things that truly lit me up.
Here’s what I discovered in that process and what I hope can help you as well:
1. Take a Step Back to Reflect
When you feel stuck, it’s essential to pause and evaluate. Ask yourself:
Why did I set these goals in the first place?
Do they still align with my values and passions?
What’s really causing this sense of resistance or stagnation?
Sometimes, it’s not the goal itself but the way we’re approaching it that needs adjusting.
2. Reconnect with What Matters Most
I revisited the core principles of Big Gorgeous Goals—dreaming big, embracing creativity, and allowing space for magic to happen. These aren’t just lofty ideas; they’re practical reminders to focus on what truly excites and inspires you. If a goal no longer sparks joy, it’s okay to let it evolve.
3. Create Space for Magic
When we’re hyper-focused on results, we can miss opportunities that are right in front of us. By stepping back and giving myself permission to slow down, I started noticing the little sparks of inspiration around me. Those small moments led to big ideas and breakthroughs I hadn’t expected.
4. Trust the Process
It’s easy to feel impatient when progress seems slow, but trust is a powerful antidote to doubt. Trust in your ability to adapt, trust in the work you’re doing, and trust that the right opportunities will come at the right time. For me, this mindset shift was a game-changer.
5. Keep Going
The turning point came when I decided to stick with it—to keep showing up, even on the days when it felt like nothing was happening. Slowly but surely, momentum returned. And now, big things are happening in my world. I’m more aligned with my goals than ever before, and the work feels meaningful again.
Your Turn to Reignite Your Passion
If you’re feeling uncertain or uninspired as 2025 begins, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on what truly matters to you. Maybe the goals you set at the start of the year need a little tweaking, or perhaps you need to reconnect with the “why” behind them.
Above all, give yourself grace. It’s okay to feel stuck—it’s part of the journey. Use this time to realign, refresh, and recommit to the things that light you up. Trust me, the spark is still there. Sometimes, it just takes a little patience and perspective to reignite it.
This year, let’s make it about passion, purpose, and progress. Your Big Gorgeous Goals are waiting—are you ready to dive back in?
